Africa

1. When i read this article and saw the slideshow, i was amazed how detailed and how beautiful the photos were. I felt as if i was there, looking right at these magnificent animals. But i wonder how did he get so close to them without disturbing them? He said he was obsessed with their daily lives and routines hut by taking their pictures close to them will disturb them and it wouldn't really be their daily life.

2.

3. This photo is my favorite because its my favorite animal, and it just looks magical. When i first saw it, i thought it was fog resting on the elephant. But after reading the caption i realized it was just dust, but it still looks magical to me.

4. Simplicity and Framing is present in this photo. The photographer kept it simple and made it clear what the subject was, and the dust and the shadow frame the elephant.

5. Nick Brandt uses a medium format black and white film without telephoto or zoom lenses. This is important because all of his photos aren't in color and that means he is up close to the animals because he has no zoom.

6. He took these photos because when he was in Tanzania in 1995, he fell in love with the animals and landscape of East Africa.

7. he hoped to capture the animals feelings through photography.

8. "I love photographing in East Africa. But I like my clouds specially imported from Northern Europe - somber, gloomy, melancholic. Now, truth be told, the clouds in this photo are pretty obviously African - a classic stormy East African build up of cloudy drama." - Nick Brandt
